Children. The activities, which are free, are on from 18 July to 26 August, at the IES Bernat Metge and the IES Sant Martí.
As in previous years, the Municipal Institute of Social Services and the Barcelona Foundation for Sport and Education have been organising summer camps for children in vulnerable social situations. This year has seen the number of places expanded to accommodate 230 boys and girls, aged between 5 and 13, officially registered as residents in the city during the last few months following the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine.
Signing up for the ‘Ukraine Play Time” programme has been completely free of charge for participating families and its places divided up between IES Bernat Metge and IES Sant Martí. The activities are on from 18 July to 26 August, from 9 am to 5 pm, except on the days of a planned excursion when more time is needed.
The camp has been complemented with another summer programme, ‘A l’estiu, Barcelona t’acull’, an activity for teenagers aged 14 to 18 which in this case doubled its number of usual places from 140 to 280, to accommodate young people and teenagers in the same situation.
More than 12,000 people have been attended to since the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine, including 7,700 in 12 weeks alone. Some 1470 people had already been officially registered as Barcelona residents last June and a total of 584 students enrolled in the city’s schools.
