Round table: ‘The European Fortress: the hidden history, the human cost’

Talks. Presentation of the report ‘Expanding the Fortress. The politics of externalisation of the EU borders’, by Mark Akkerman.

The session will be presented by Niamh Aine Ni Bhriain, War and Pacification Coordinator at Transnational Institute (TNI). Other experts and representatives from the civil society and social movements will also be participating, such as Helena Maleno (journalist and researcher on migration and human trafficking), Juan Hernàndez Zubizarreta (professor of law and investigator for OMAL) and a representative from the Sindicato de Manteros (street vendors trade union), to reflect on the problems of ‘Fortress Europe’, migration and human rights violations.

The session is being organised by the Delàs Center of Studies for Peace, the Transnational Institute, Novact, and the Permanent People’s Tribunal, with support from Barcelona City Council.
