Workshops. The course looks at different cases of forced displacement which have occurred in history.
In the last few years we’ve seen how refugees seeking asylum in Europe find the doors closed in front of them. Instead of being offered an alternative, they are confined in places such as Lampedusa, Greece and Turkey. In the case of the latter, the EU has paid huge sums of money to Erdogan for him to manage the crisis within his own borders and prevent the trickle of people who, in the eyes of xenophobic and far right parties in Europe, are a danger to Europe. Refugee crises are nothing new though and the 20th century is full of cases. This course looks at some of them.
